The continuance of establishment and media deceit
The truth is out there but you have to wade through lots of intentional deceit to get to it. Unfortunately, most will not bother.
Anyone thinking what passes for the “news” media doesn’t flat out lie and try to deceive the public has not been living in the real world. Just witness the obfuscation and media concealment of Joe Biden’s mental condition and you know what the media does best—hides and lies about the truth! They have bent over backwards to keep this from us and only seeing the presidential debate on June 27th revealed to the public at large what had been concealed from them. At that point, the media could no longer hide it. It was on display for the world to see.
That being the case, it should surprise no one that the media has so much good to peddle to us when it comes to Abraham Lincoln. Just about every year, near the start of the year, a “newspaper” somewhere, usually part of the Establishment press, will carry some sort of survey asking people to name their favorite American president, and asks readers to explain in a few words why he is their favorite.
Not surprisingly, the president that usually garners most of those popular votes is Abraham Lincoln. It hasn’t always been so. Back when old Abe was still alive he was far from popular, even in the North. But 150 plus years of media propaganda have worked wonders. Most who fall for this propaganda ploy list Lincoln as their favorite because “he freed the slaves," It seems that this old wives tale is what passes for history in most government school “history” classes around the country. Even high school and college students don’t know the real truth. But you can’t fault them if they were never taught it. Many of their “history” teachers may not even know it. But the authors and publishers of those “history” books those kids learned from are most certainly culpable.
The “history” texts rave about the Emancipation Proclamation as though it were the ultimate freedom document, at least on a par with the Magna Carta. If you want to discover what the Emancipation Proclamation was really all about, just read a copy of the original in its entirety. You can find it on the internet, along with all the abbreviated copies. When Lincoln issued the proclamation it was nothing more than a war measure. It freed not a single slave in any territory controlled by the Union. Let that fact sink in. And there were lots of slaves in those slave states that stayed in the Union for one reason or another. In fact in the territory controlled by the Union, there were around 400,000 slaves that the Emancipation Proclamation did absolutely nothing for.
For those who may have read abbreviated or corrupted versions of the Proclamation, the kind often used in public school workbooks, you need to realize that the Proclamation only “freed” those slaves in Confederate territory, while freeing none in Union held territory. It didn’t even free the slaves in parts of the Confederate States that had been recaptured by the Union. Slaves held in Union areas were technically not freed until the second Thirteenth Amendment which was not ratified until December of 1865, months after Lincoln had departed this mortal coil—done in by the hand of a man that seems to have had direct ties to some in Lincoln’s cabinet and administration. I’ve written about that in this series previously.
However, for all that, the media and publishing industry continue to propagate the total myth that the North only fought the “Civil War” to free the slaves. No other reasons, at least not the important ones, need to be listed, so just ignore these other reasons and concentrate on the slavery issue. That’s what they program you to do. This myth is the most convenient peg for Establishment “historians” to hang their radical hats on and it provides many of them with a good living via books and speeches and whatever else they can make money with bemusing the public with their historical fiction. After all, why drag in the awful truth when you have an agenda to promote? If truth doesn’t agree with the agenda, then promote the agenda! Why confuse people with the facts?
Although it’s ancient history now, some of you all may remember this. Back in the Fall of 1990, public television started showing Ken Burns’ “Civil War” series. It was a five part series and you had to watch all five segments to get the “whole picture” so to speak. So that I could later comment on it, I sat through all five miserable episodes. Had they ceased after that, it would have been bad enough, but it seemed like, for the next two or three years, they showed it so many times I was afraid they’d wear the film out! It seemed that this abomination was on at least three times a year for about the next five years. Ken Burns is a modern New Hampshire abolitionist type who spent five years and untold thousands of dollars in foundation money “exhaustively” researching, so we were told, the period of the War and the reasons for it. And after all that time and foundation money, Burns came up with an amazing breakthrough, we were told. He found that the war was fought over slavery! Was his audience properly impressed over his “amazing” discovery? I wasn’t! Nor was I surprised. With all the establishment cash spent on that project, Burns would not have dared to come up with any other conclusion. Had he really dared to come up with some independent research instead of the propaganda he dished out, it’s highly doubtful if his vaunted series would ever have seen the light of day. It probably would have quietly disappeared on the cutting room floor.
After the series was aired the first time it was widely criticized. It wasn’t very good truth or history. In fact it may have indirectly helped to contribute to the rise of the Southern Heritage Movement in the early 1990s, which was surely not its intent.
However, the Establishment “historians” keep right on trying. They persist in pouring out reams of historical fertilizer and labeling it all as “history.” For the past few decades, though, they’ve been getting some pushback. In 1993 the Kennedy Brothers came out with the first edition The South Was Right. The book has sold well over 100,000 copies and has now been reprinted and updated by Shotwell Publishing in Columbia, South Carolina. Since then they have written many more and one of their more recent ones was Yankee Empire, also published by Shotwell. Back in 2011 Walter Kennedy and I had Lincoln’s Marxists published by Pelican Publishing (now out of business) but a new and updated version of that has recently been published by Shotwell under the title Lincoln, Marx, And The GOP.
Other authors have also provided much accurate information for those who are willing to learn the truth. Dr. Thomas DiLorenzo gave us The Real Lincoln and Lincoln Unmasked. Gene Kizer Jr. has written Slavery Was Not The Cause Of The War Between The States. There have been many others. I can’t list them all here. And they all deal with the real truth about the War and the reasons for it and many of the personalities involved. Suffice it to say, their accounts differ significantly from the duplicitous narratives we still continue to see pushed as part of the continuing Establishment and media deceit. For those who want the truth there is now a growing body of literature out there they can go to in order to get it.

Thank you for passing them on. That way they reach more people than I ever could.
Thanks! I pass these on!
